The South Coast has certainly cast a spell on us and our love for the sea at Kridzil is evident by the elements we’ve brought from the sandy shores into your home-away-from-home. Our hope, as always, is that you’ll yearn to linger longer for wisps of salty sea air around your hair, sandy toes trailing seaside stories at your ankles and sun-kissed

skin that has warmed your soul and set your mind at ease. The Kridzil Team has spent the first part of 2022 ensuring that every guest leaves with a broad smile and a little bit of sea-sand in their pockets. Join us now as we reflect on all the ways we’ve aimed to “create the environment for everlasting holiday memories”.

With so much to do and so much to see, it’s easy to get lost in the beauty and thrill of the adventures along the sunny South Coast. From couples escaping for some relaxation under sunny skies, families looking to forge happy holiday memories together, and friends seeking that next bucket-list experience – there’s a plethora to experience here. These are our current faves we hope you’ll try on your next visit:

Butterfly Valley
Ramsgate Butterfly Valley is home to a wondrous collection of butterflies. The incredible thing about this butterfly farm is that they breed most of their own species and thus have the full life-cycle of the butterfly on display. Stroll through the flight dome to experience these beautiful creatures in their natural biome and join the Butterfly Valley Guides in the breeding centre for an informative presentation that delves into the delicate lives of butterflies. Entrance fees are R80 per adult and R40 per child, and the fees raised go back into conservation efforts.

Margate Beach
From lazing seaside and building sandcastles to dining alfresco – Margate Beach is only a stone’s throw from Kridzil and offers a wide range of family-friendly fun, aside from those glorious beach days. We recommend visiting the Margate Art Museum, teeing off at the Country Club or heading over to the Venom Reptile Park for a fun day out and about. Pop into Lilly’s Bread Bin for milktart stuffed doughnuts, stop by Seafood Shack for classic takeaway fish and chips or end a great balmy day at Zuri Beach Margate for a range of delicious grills with a view over the ocean.

Oribi Gorge
Oribi Gorge is named for the antelope species, and while the region is teeming with wildlife, the Oribi is a shy and elusive species that is hardly seen. Never fret though, as there is loads to enjoy at this Nature Reserve, from hiking trails and picnic spots to the infamous Wild Swing and zip-lining for the more adventurous. Wild 5 Adventures has made their home here and offer a range of exhilarating experiences you’re sure to enjoy. Guests can relish in the beauty of the region, and get lost in the heart of this KZN jungle, through a number of activities the kids will certainly talk about well into the future.

KZN Floods - April 2022

The devastating KwaZulu-Natal floods in April caused a lot of damage to the resort including damages to garage doors, the CCTV camera system, B Block and office cupboards and doors. Some Margate areas were left without water for more than 6 weeks, but fortunately due to Kridzil's back-up water system, the Kridzil guests were not affected by the water crisis.

Keeping You Connected!

After the careful consideration of guest feedback and reviewing our own refurbishment plans, the decision was reached to provide wi-fi connectivity at Kridzil Apartments. The project was completed in February and guests to Kridzil can now enjoy uncapped 5mbps connectivity in their units, as well as throughout the property.
We wish all Kridzil guests “happy internet surfing”!

Every long weekend, public holiday or appreciation day deserves a little something special. The Kridzil Team continually delights guests with special treats when checking-in to their home-away-from-home. Here were the latest sweet moments, shared with our guests and valued Shareholders:

Festive Season

A shout-out is first in order for a lovely guest who was so enthusiastic about the festive season that they jumped in and helped the Kridzil Team with our own Christmas preparations. Thank you! Guests checking-in received a lovely handmade hanging décor item. As families ushered through our doors and out into the warm air to celebrate their own festive season, so too did the Kridzil family. Our Team took part in a secret Santa and enjoyed a meal together.

Valentine’s Day

The Kridzil Team adores spoiling our guests and ensured everyone felt the love on Valentine’s Day. The kiddies visiting received lucky packets made up with chips, a small drink and sweeties. Each lady received a handmade cloth bag filled with chocolate truffles, and each gentleman received a chocolate slab with a kind note.

Easter Long Weekend

Each year the Kridzil Team looks forward to the Easter long weekend, as families pile out of their cars to enjoy our annual Easter Egg Hunt! Each family that checked-in over this period received a handwoven basket filled with chocolate treats, for everyone to enjoy. The Housekeeping Team also got creative with their fabulous towel-folding skills!

Mother’s Day

Mother's hold a special place in our hearts and our hope is to shine a little love on them all each Mother's Day. Cathy, our administrator, and Goodness, our housekeeping supervisor, crafted beautiful roses out of face cloths to gift to every mom, while the bedroom towels took the form of flowers. Guests loved the spoils and decorations from our Team.

Tidy Towns
Tidy Towns was recently launched by Stephen Herbst and Reg Horne. Their aim is simple: to restore the coastline from Shelly Beach to Margate and make this side of the sunny South Coast a tourism hotspot once more. The initiative aims at cleaning up the beaches, tidying walkways, repaving and planting greenery. The South Coast community loves getting involved and everyone from business-owners to individuals who live in the region are chipping in with their skills, donations or time to help get the stretch of South Coast that we call home glimmering once more.

We are not in this for any other reason but to see the community rise and our local tourism flourish. Keep In Touch With Us

The sun sets on the horizon and casts a glimmer over the open ocean. From a quaint Kridzil balcony, we see the seagulls drifting above the surf and smell that familiar scent of sunscreen and sea-spray that we’ve come to know and love. Some families are only just arriving back to their cosy units, casting sea-sand like glitter as they walk and laugh. Some units are lit up inside as others plan to stay in for a relaxing evening, and still, a few units remain quiet, as others continue to soak up the vibe of

the South Coast at their favourite eateries. This is the spirit of Kridzil Holiday Apartments and this is the essence of that spell that the ocean has cast on us all. Until next time, “We all come from the sea, but we are not all of the sea. Those of us who are, we children of the tides, must return to it again and again, until the day we don’t come back, leaving only that which was touched along the waves.”
